Freedom to Test Impact of Motion Behavior on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Apr 13, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Autodesk,
Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK) announced that Autodesk
ForceEffect Motion, a new mobile simulation app for developing and
testing mechanical systems with moving parts (scissor lift, windshield
wipers, automobile engine, robotics, etc.), is now available on the App
Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
ForceEffect Motion expands the Autodesk portfolio of mobile simulation
apps, which also includes Autodesk
ForceEffect, a simulation app that lets users calculate forces on a
static object (building, bridge, furniture, machine, etc.) -- a process
typically done with longhand calculations and paper-and-pencil drawings.
"Autodesk ForceEffect Motion brings engineering to the point of the
design problem that engineers are trying to solve in the field, in the
office or in the classroom," said Robert "Buzz" Kross, senior vice
president, Design, Lifecycle and Simulation at Autodesk. "Now you have
the tools to develop conceptual mechanical designs right on your iPhone,
iPad or iPod touch."
Easy Simulation for Moving Mechanical Systems
Autodesk ForceEffect Motion enables engineers, students and technical
DIY enthusiasts to quickly and easily evaluate their designs early in
the design process, thereby empowering rapid concept evaluation.
ForceEffect Motion tackles a calculation-intensive engineering activity
where users spend most of their time - on their iPhone, iPad or iPod
touch.
Users start by importing an existing image or creating a freehand sketch
and adding functional mechanical joints, actuators, constraints and
supports. Within this intuitive environment, users simply tap objects to
select, move, rotate and scale.
Real-time solving capabilities provide immediate feedback on the
system's performance, which users can then print, email or view as a
results report on their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or any other device
with an HTML-enabled browser.
ForceEffect Motion users can more easily continue their workflow by
directly exporting their mechanism to Autodesk ForceEffect to conduct a
detailed static load analysis, or by sharing it with other CAD
applications via powerful export capabilities.
Autodesk ForceEffect Motion also features full integration with Autodesk
360, a cloud-based storage and collaboration platform that helps
users dramatically improve the way they design, visualize, simulate and
share their work with others -- anytime, anywhere and from any device.
Pricing and Availability
The Autodesk ForceEffect Motion App is available for free* from the App
Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at iTunes
App Store. Videos are also available on the Autodesk
YouTube Channel.
