Survey Reveals 79% of Respondents Selected AutoCAD Electrical as Preferred
Electrical Design Software
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Autodesk, Inc.
(Nasdaq: ADSK) today announced that AutoCAD Electrical, the leading
application for fast and accurate design of industrial control systems, has
been recognized by the readers of Control Design magazine for providing the
best technology value, services and support in a recent survey. The survey
results, as part of the Fifth-Annual Readers' Choice Award, showed AutoCAD
Electrical as the preferred application by 79% of the subscribers who
responded.

"We are honored to receive the Readers' Choice Award from Control Design,"
said Robert "Buzz" Kross, vice president of Autodesk's Manufacturing Division.
"This recognition is testament to the quality of our technology, our continued
product innovation and loyalty of our customers, who appreciate the unique
value Autodesk delivers in linking 2D electrical schematics from AutoCAD
Electrical with the 3D cable and harness models in Autodesk Inventor."
AutoCAD Electrical is a 2D design application created for electrical
control designers, by electrical control designers. Built on the AutoCAD
software platform, it automates the tedious tasks of creating ladder drawings
and point-to-point style electrical drawings, tracks all wire numbers and
component tags, and cross references coil and contact information for
increased drafting productivity. AutoCAD Electrical generates a wide range of
automated reports, including bills-of-materials and from-to wire lists, to
minimize the errors that can occur with manual reports. It also saves time by
linking cable and harness information to Autodesk Inventor software, the
world's best selling 3D mechanical design software and best choice for AutoCAD
users. AutoCAD Electrical helps customers create better designs, reduce
errors, and save time by enabling them to focus on design and engineering
tasks rather than on repetitive drafting functions.
Mammoth Inc., a leader in custom HVAC, is using AutoCAD Electrical
software to provide an easy to use environment that helps employees increase
productivity. "AutoCAD Electrical software helps us get the job done more
effectively because of its flexibility. It doesn't place restrictions on you
and is a more "free" environment than competitive software," said David
Pedersen, Electrical Engineer at Mammoth Inc. "Time-wise, some of our reports
that were taking five minutes are taking just seconds with AutoCAD Electrical.
With four or five reports per drawing, the time savings can really add up."
"Our model for this award hasn't changed since we first presented Readers'
Choice results in 2001," said Control Design Editor in Chief Joe Feeley. "Our
ballot is an unaided survey -- we don't include a list of vendors or product
brands to choose from. We simply ask participants to name the best company for
the products with which they have experience. That's consistent with our
belief that it's the technology users who best know what products provide
superior value. A win of the magnitude of Autodesk's margin in the E-CAD
category speaks for itself."
