From the Design Department to the Shop Floor - The Quebec Engineering Company Accelerated Their Review and Mark Up Collaboration Process, Realizing Reduced Design and Manufacturing ErrorsSAN RAFAEL, Calif., June 21, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Autodesk, Inc.
(Nasdaq: ADSK) today announced that its long-time customer, Advanced Dynamics
(St. Bruno, Quebec Canada) recently turned to Autodesk Design Review software
to streamline its design review process and make its collaborative workflow
process more efficient. The company has been engineering, designing, and
manufacturing heavy-duty material handling systems for the past 40 years for
the paper and primary metals industries. Since integrating Autodesk Design
Review software, Advanced Dynamic's project teams are getting more done in
less time-while reducing the risk of design and manufacturing errors.

With Autodesk Design Review, Advanced Dynamics has been able to
incorporate feedback and changes faster, helping them realize more value from
their investment in Autodesk design and data management software including
Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Mechanical, and Autodesk Productstream.
Autodesk Design Review software allows designers and engineers to provide 2D
and 3D designs to non-CAD users for review and markup.
"Our design review process needed to be optimized for the customer and for
us," says Patrik Chartrand, CAD administrator for Advanced Dynamics. "After we
received comments from customers, it was tedious to make the changes because
handwritten comments are not always clear or complete. In Autodesk Design
Review, we found a better way to share designs, collect comments, and make
changes. This adds a great deal of value to our design process."
Advanced Dynamics began using Autodesk Design Review to conduct design
reviews in early 2005. Today, the entire process is faster, clearer, and more
efficient. Reviewers can view and markup 2D and 3D designs using Autodesk
Design Review. Internal reviewers manage the review process through Autodesk
Productstream. After reviews are submitted, designers import the feedback into
their design software as an overlay, accelerating the change process. As an
added advantage when used with Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Design Review and
DWF maintain the integrity of assembly, subassembly, and part information.
Chartrand adds that Autodesk Design Review has proved particularly
valuable on an $11 million paper mill project that will involve more than
25,000 engineering hours. He says, "Without Autodesk Design Review, the design
review process, which involves both the customer and plant designers in the
United States, would take significantly longer. The 3D design and design
review capabilities we get with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Design Review
helped us win the project."
