Autodesk Architectural Studio Receives CADENCE Magazine's Editors' Choice Award; Breakthrough Digital Design Environment Recognized for Advancing the Building Industry

Jul 24, 2002
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Jul 24, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK), the world's leading design software and digital content company, announced today that it has garnered CADENCE magazine's prestigious July 2002 Editor's Choice Award for Autodesk Architectural Studio, a conceptual design creation and multimedia communication environment for architects and other building industry professionals. Granted twice yearly, the award recognizes Autodesk as a design technology leader that has moved the building industry forward by bringing to market Architectural Studio, an innovative digital design environment that combines the advances of pen-based input technology with the simplicity of freehand architectural methods.

CADENCE chose Architectural Studio because of its powerful yet simple drawing, collage and modeling tools that replicate the workflow of a traditional design studio. Commending the product as an "ideal platform" for the soon-to-be-released Tablet PC, CADENCE editors were also impressed by its ability to connect designers with project team members for real-time design collaboration.

"Autodesk Architectural Studio serves the building industry well by delivering a unique software application that appeals to both senior principals and CAD users alike," said Editor-in-Chief Arnie Williams of CADENCE magazine. "The advances in this product are refreshing, and it was certainly deserving of this year's award."

Architectural Studio for Freehand Digital Design
Architectural Studio recreates the traditional design studio with direct-input tools such as pencils and markers that are intuitive and easy to use, and brings them into the digital world for enhanced workflow and efficiency. This innovative design environment can also be used for multimedia presentations to the client, consultants, or the internal design team. Complex design problems or later stage construction issues that require immediate, graphical communication can be resolved more quickly by sharing digital sketches or hand-written notes generated within an Architectural Studio workspace.

Autodesk Architectural Studio 2 was released in North America in June 2002 and is planned to be available in Europe later this year.
